What is bacterial vaginosis?
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is the most common cause of vaginal infection known as vaginitis. Is not usually considered a disease “sexually transmitted”. And ‘the imbalance in nature happens bacterial flora, which causes bacterial vaginosis. What are the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis?
The most common sign is an unusual discharge, especially after sex that has an unpleasant smell of fish. Some women experience no symptoms, while many others experience severe swelling, itching and irritation (often by patients and therapists, as well as the health yeast infection) is diagnosed, including stomach pains, feels like severe cramps. In contrast, a normal discharge is odorless and vary in quantity and consistency with the menstrual cycle.
What causes bacterial vaginosis?
Normally, a healthy vagina should contain lots of microorganisms, curled jensen Lactobacillus and Lactobacillus are the most common. The microorganisms involved in bacterial vaginosis are very different. Using the reduction of Lactobacillus and other changes in normal bacterial flora due to antibiotics or pH imbalance or other reasons to be more resistant bacteria to proliferate and gain a foothold.
There are a number of causes of bacterial vaginosis. Bacterial vaginosis is more common in sexually active women between 15 and 44, especially after the transition to the new partner.
Though bacterial vaginosis may include sexual activity, there is no conclusive evidence for sexual transmission. But waitresses are infected with bacterial vaginosis.
Women with sexually transmitted infections and pregnant women are at increased risk. Sometimes bacterial vaginosis affects women after menopause. One study showed that subclinical iron deficiency anemia is a cause of strength of bacterial vaginosis in pregnant women. There is also evidence that there is a correlation between psychosocial stress and bacterial vaginosis.
There is a theory in which the sexual exchange of vaginal secretions in sex between women is a possible mechanism for the acquisition.
In young girls, or streptococcus bacteria from the anus by any health wiping after bowel movements can be bacterial vaginosis.
What is the treatment for bacterial vaginosis?
Since the disease is caused by bacteria, therefore, for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis is the use of antibiotics. Not many antibiotics are routinely used. Metronidazole (Flagyl) is a very emotional antibiotics taken, either orally (pill) or through the vaginal metronidazole gel (Metrogel). Clindamycin vaginal cream (Cleocin) is also available.
Oral metronidazole is considered the best run and most effective treatment, but smaller and side effects can be unpleasant. In general, the gel does not cause side effects, but yeast vaginitis may occur as a side effect of the drug.
Therefore if an antibiotic tinidazole with fewer side effects, an antibiotic that has fewer side effects than metronidazole in bacterial vaginosis and the treatment is effective is shown.
There is the possibility of recurrence bacterial vaginosis, even after successful treatment. Relapse occurs in more than half of patients treated within 12 months. The reason for this is unclear. Because the incidence of recurrent symptoms, a second course of treatment with antibiotics is recommended.
